Sacrilegious Impalement - First Three Nails [Compilation] (2015)

Sometimes the band albums valued very highly by critics, and the band itself becomes famous and iconic (In other words, a very interesting - taking into account the status and ideological started). Each recording - it's a whole event that only once will say in knowing circle -and immediately get a sea of enthusiastic epithets and emotions. It is clear that the lion's share of this success carries by the labels, promoting releases with all means available, but also acting a band itself that composes and performs worthy material, and thus playing an important role in the promotion. Sacrilegious Impalement reached a very respectable success - many good albums that are sold in Europe every metal product as well as tons of merch that they actively sell on each of its fest. But ten years ago, a band did not have such status, and has relied solely on their talents, skills and charisma - all of the above for the greatness it has yet to achieve. Today is a great anniversary – it is a 10 years old of Sacrilegious Impalement. And on this occasion, we will take first three releases, from which Sacrilegious Impalement began their wicked and blasphemous movement. But it will not be full-length album that illuminate "an elite underground" to this day, but first demo and two following EP, which were held in a large compilation - «First Three Nails».

And talking about Sacrilegious Impalement I also need in the past tense, according to date of these releases, although half of the participants that stood at the origins of the band, now back in the line-up. This guitarist and band`s leader that was originally in line-up - Von Bastard. Khaosbringer, who was a vocalist and an ideologist of the band in the early years, and then left the band (and joined Perdition Winds), but then again returned to SI - only now as a live member of the band. Assassin, that was the drummer in the beginning, but later became a live guitarist. And Wrathprayer, who early performed backing vocals until 2013 has been promoted to the main vocalist… And bass ... bass divided at all, and there is not a particular member of this instrument at the time in the SI. By the way, the last two SI`s participants have and another band called Exordium. So, their debut album, which was released in 2008, the year - it is just mad bomb, a harbinger of the righteous and the destruction and real Masterpiece, which I wildly recommend to the listening. And now we will concentrate on the «First Three Nails»...

The first three tracks are presented as demo "Total Annihilation". Record looks pretty ripe for its first work, which indicates a high level and experience of the musicians who created Sacrilegious Impalement. Hell's fast tempo, furious and the threshing drums, the first moment of forcing you to listen to these undivine bits, infernal guitar and rough, sinister vocals of Khaosbringer - everything is really impressive, especially when you do not expect anything like this from the demo. And the whole tempo of the demo is still quick, even when in a second track the entire motif comes to the slow tempo - the composition ends abruptly with no regrets, bumping into the idea that if there is a different tempo, the we don`t hear it. The next dish - EP «Sacrilegious Impalement», and, unlike the demo, he literally surprised by its diversity. The first and title track, though similar to the demo, but it is fraught with a variety of guitars and other instruments combine a good accompaniment. The second track looks more like a fast middle-tempo, followed by acceleration, but, anyway, this track is go away from trying of the first demo, both in terms of sound, and atmosphere. But the last two tracks are leads listeners to the Finnish theme, depressing guitars, crisp drums and tough and calm vocals. In this EP has its different themes, which are nothing like the blasphemous infernality of "Total Annihilation", but also are not to be found hellish and blast aspects - here more Finnish misanthropic Black Metal, casting more atmosphere in lonely cold tundra than hot hell. But at the same time, some things are so stretched its process that sometimes you want ended this after the final denouement, leaving nothing in the end. Finishes second compilation EP «World In Ashes», which consists of two tracks. And if the first - it is quite spacious, dressed in a recognizable color midtempo agony, the second - a fast, black and like "striking mud in the face" rough Black Metal. EP is generally evil and blasphemous, blasting your brain and friend`s brains for many miles. This is not only good album ending, but also the long-awaited final, which is approaching "First Three Nails" to the end...

I could not compare the quality of the original demo with quality of remastering that was made for the "First Three Nails", so I really can`t to judge the difference. But only at the hearing, I can say that in terms of sound definitely wins remaster, because the original sounded quieter and muffled, while remaster these shortcomings will not find. What can`t be said about the first EP. I have not heard the original version, but says that the quality can`t be distinguished from the remaster. I believe that the "original" and the "remaster" - it is a same one, and no one could find the old record - even the musicians didn`t save it, if I not mistaken. But, anyway, I like this sound - and the rest is nonsense. Instruments are good everywhere, and one on one not inferior in sound with original release. But I hoped that will see a fewer riffs and repetitions that unfairly delay individual tracks. The truth is the all these minor flaws - it's just a claim to band, which has long prevented the emergence of such shortcomings and each of their job sufficiently gorgeous - especially in terms of sounding and post-production. Latest EP is finally shows the difference in sound. Here is a strongly altered guitar, putting the above and making sounds more rich and also pulling up to the bottom of the background is changing everything in place - in the original it was vice versa, if not even worse. This is not the best option, but at least that allows you to feel things with the other hand and, at the same time, listen to this version with a pretty cheerful mood. But more of this compilation, and do not need, because the original thing achieved equally well.

Lyrics are not yet in sight, as it were, who did not try to find it here, but we tried to dig deeper. Lyrics extremely monotonous and written by different people, and although the main vocalist is Khaosbringer, a small part of it belongs to an entirely different people. A booklet is not quite simple, and it looks like a kind of dark catacombs with black and white minimalist tinge, and the first of them - the front cover of "The first three nails." It is a strong board, smeared somewhere damp ground and the hand that was put on it. And judging from the picture reveals to us, we begin to understand why hand chose this place - it is literally nailed to a board. This picture is more like a fragment taken from the whole crucifixion miserable slave, although no one disputes this fact, that the hand can be the only one that nailed the cross. The rest of the body, or is near, a long-decayed in the ground. Spread tells the story of a complex and extended cover version, where, on the one hand, you can see the list of songs (and its authors), and on the other hand, we clearly see the Baphomet - who is a favourite of bands, with evil inscription around him. In the booklet we show which tracks correspond to demo and EP`s, and on the full spread of the booklet depicts Von Bastard, Khaosbringer and band logo.

10 years behind us, and then - new challenges and achievements. And together with old friends, who returned to the team, the SI cause a interest even in me. A compilation «First Three Nails» will become a reminder about where they started. And they need to striving for the first and only (so far) album of Exordium - but that's another story ...
